One of the benefits of being an ex-mmo player is the huge backlog of games I have yet to play. It’s like a holiday release period on crack and I honestly am a little overwhelmed at the choices I have. Leaving the mmo scene was very good for me, and this was a nice little side effect that I wasn’t expecting.
When I was playing an mmo I would play it to the exclusion of all other games, and missed a lot of the goings on in the gaming scene. There are tons of high quality titles that I missed that I now am going back and playing. Before I dove into the world of mmo’s back at the release of World of Warcraft my taste in games was pretty varied. After WoW I had some brief moments as a reformed gamer, then started playing Rift, and then Star Wars: The Old Republic. After a month or so of SWTOR I realized why I quit mmo’s the first time, and cancelled knowing that mmo’s just weren’t for me anymore.
Post any recommendations you have in the comments, I’ve missed a lot of games and I have some serious catching up to do!
